Meet the Team
Megan Steffen, Digital marketing + photography
THE STORY: I'd love to say my career path was 100% intentional, but whose truly is? Ok, doctors, lawyers & engineers, touché. In marketing, the path is rarely linear. I started my career nowhere near marketing, but my first manager took a chance on a 21-year old who had a good work ethic. From there, I moved myself around and up, following my passions and where I excelled. My journey through Autodesk was an interesting ride, from working with national training centers to managing the extranet to executing marketing plans for the Subscription team. I learned how to be a top performing professional, I learned what work-life balance was truly about, I was exposed to incredible technologies and worked with amazingly talented people. <and.....scene.>
I fell in love with wine. I worked really hard to get a job at a winery, where I would be surrounded by wine and where we would taste wine and where I would learn all about wine. I did, but I also learned quickly that wine is a business and that business is very complicated. An agricultural product that is distributed through a three-tier system is a far cry from software. After working on high-level marketing programs for national retail and on-premise accounts, I created the social media position within the company. I ran the digital marketing for 14+ brands at one company to managing 9 at the next, owning everything from writing content to managing ads to broadcasting programs and promotions to influencer marketing. It was a wild ride. <and.....scene.>
Picture it, Napa, 2014. I decided to go out on my own. As an in-house digital marketing manager, the ONE thing I needed most was content. I started Untapped Media to provide businesses and brands with custom, branded stock imagery for their own asset libraries. No more buying that one stock image of the brunette holding a glass of red, ya know, the one everyone uses. Untapped Media can provide you with professional level photographs that up your digital marketing game.
RANDOMS: I love coffee (who doesn't.) And beer (who doesn't.) I'm picky about cereal, pickles and peanut butter cups. I was once on a local Bay Area TV show where I got a makeover...I did not get to meet Mike Rowe. One of my pins for a brand I worked on got over 23,000 repins within two weeks. I once played blackjack with Vince Vaughn, in the height of my Swingers obsession. This obsession has not really waned. I resisted Facebook for almost 2 years after it went mainstream (how could I abandon MySpace?!?) I took a solo road trip in 2012 to take more photographs, driving 2300 miles and seeing incredible sights like the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park and the Neon Museum in Vegas. I worked in a video store from 1996-1999. Yes, video store, as in VHS, DVD and even LaserDisc. I have a few As Seen on TV product ideas.
Jennifer Adams, all things financial + Business Development + ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT
Our story begins after college. Known as "Jenn with two n's" our hero took a job at Napa Valley Grille in Yountville, working as an Event Coordinator. This was her first taste of the world of sales and something clicked. Working closely with a team - check. Building client relationships- check. Revenue generation - check, check check! Jenn was exactly where she needed to be.
As the years went by, Jenn strengthened her sales skill set even more by adding weddings to her repertoire at COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food, & The Arts. This is also where she discovered the super powers of team building and cross department communication. The result? Everyone became stronger in the fight for perfectly executed events.
After diving head first into hotel sales she became known to her clients as Trustworthy with a capital T and "really nice", helping to ensure repeat business. She mastered the art of multi-year contracts and became the lead for creating unique site experiences. KAPOW! Jenn was not the stereotypical sales type but a wonder woman and unique brand all her own.
When Megan lit up the Social Media signal looking to put together a dynamic team, Jenn jumped at the chance to be a part of this group. Now nothing will stop these heroes from assisting clients in social media ruts. Will Untapped Media create a social media strategy to help you take over the world? Can they save you from the boring run of the mill stock imagery your competitors are using? It's time you find out.
Randoms: I smile... a lot. Sometimes I answer questions in a sing song voice and it really is an involuntary reaction. I have been fortunate to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Dublin and Hallowscream in Salem. Peppermint ice cream is my kryptonite. I geek out on history. Anyone who has had to visit a museum or historical site with me knows this all too well and I make no apologies. My philosophy on traveling to a foreign country is to learn one phrase that you can repeat over and over should anyone ask you a question (for example: Jag har ingen aning). The causes closest to my heart are Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinsons' awareness/research/cure. I am completely addicted to the Walking Dead (SPOILER alert – RIP Beth). For some reason the Wheel of Fortune slot machine is my lucky charm and I make no apologies about that either. One of my goals in life is to learn sign language. Well that, and Krav Maga. :)
Diana Tsuchida, Digital Marketing + Business development
My road to eating and tweeting was a random one that I never would have predicted. After pursuing an American Studies graduate degree in beautiful, albeit very sleepy Hawaii, I decided to leave it all behind to jump into the corporate world on a different island: Manhattan. There couldn't have been a more jarring yet energizing place to go. My first stint was doing social media strategy for a tech recruiting firm, where I became familiar with the basics of community management and the nitty gritty of digital promotion. But the interest for tech only lasted so long when the world of eclectic NYC food, innovative restaurants and the Brooklyn artisanal movement called to me. I then landed a job with the hospitality and restaurant public relations firm Baltz & Company as their Digital Communications Manager. I was tasked with leading our tiny social media division, creating agency and client content, running advertising, photography, video and business development. We worked closely with some of the most groundbreaking chefs and sommeliers: Marcus Samuelsson, Jamie Bissonnette, Masaharu Morimoto and Patrick Cappiello to name a few. After a two year whirlwind, I decided it was finally time to come back home to my Bay Area roots. While I continued agency work, a serendipitous connection led me to Megan and the prospect of being part of the core team was too amazing to pass up. I'm honored to be part of the journey and I'm looking forward to bringing your social media presence to the next level!
Randoms: I once won an I Love Lucy trivia game night on a cruise ship. My celebrity crushes are Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park and Jeff Goldblum in the PayPal commercials. I can promise you there is no dessert too sweet for me and I cannot promise you that I'll share. My comfort foods are burritos, ramen or pineapple fried rice. My one Someday I'd love to have a horse (big or miniature, doesn't really matter). I love dancing and when I need to sooth my soul I listen to Stevie Wonder, Raphael Saadiq and sappy R&B love songs from the 90s. My lofty photography goal is to nail a beautiful night sky shot.
Tovae Daniels, Digital Marketing + Photo Styling
Getting here took some skipping around. I graduated high school thinking I wanted to focus my future in art but when my hobby became more stressful than relaxing I dropped my art school dreams and thought again. Then, like most lost college students, I declared myself a business major. I got my Associates in business marketing at Napa Valley College and thought I would complete my undergrad in business as well. At the time I was working at a local boutique and was inspired to try something fashion oriented. I stumbled upon the Apparel and Design Merchandising program at SFSU and applied on a whim and, lucky me, was accepted! I spent the next few years combining my love for art and marketing in the merchandising program and working at Anthropologie, the mecca of visual merchandising! After graduating I started working for a startup helping where I could and as startups go, ended up doing several tasks including managing our social media pages. Now all of that has lead me here, thank goodness!
Randoms: Bad jokes and cheesy one liners get me every time, it’s the weirdest things that will bring me to tears with laughter! I love bar games even though I’m bad at most all of them. I participated in a Shuffle Board league as an informal sub, we won both years we played, just sayin’! I have a true boot love, I don’t wear anything else. I’ve tried, it doesn’t work. Other than bunny slippers, I get a new pair every Christmas. If you see someone rocking them in Trader Joes, say hi, it’s probably me. I am a Bachelor fan, don’t judge, we’re all secret fans. I recently got back into yoga and love it!!! My longest running goal is to one day own a Dalmatian named Pongo, since my parents refused to supply me with one in the early years I’m waiting until I’m settled to make my kindergarten dreams come true!
ALLISON KELLEY, SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN
I am a Communications major at Sonoma State University. I grew up as an only child but am now accompanied by my animal siblings, kitty (clever name right?) and Ellie. I go crazy over sunsets and occasionally have to pull over on the side of the road to stare at them in awe. I crave a bowl of cereal more than anything. Also, Chai Tea Lattes from Starbucks and White Gummies from Jamba Juice are my weaknesses. I come from a huge Italian family and I find myself talking with my hands more often than not. After I graduate I would love to travel the world for a year and see as much as I can. I am left handed and for some reason people always freak out about that. I love buying lottery scratchers just for fun- also think I may have a slight addiction to them. I am strangely obsessed with little objects and trinkets, I have been collecting them since I can remember. One of my goals in life is to win something super awesome on the radio. I would rather spend my money on concert tickets than anything else. My biggest fear is passing big rigs on the freeway and balloons popping in my face. I am an adrenaline junkie and have conquered a 1,000 ft slip and slide, trapeze, bungie drop, and zip-lining. Next is skydiving!
