New Studio in Medford!

When we moved to Medford at the end of 2020 (wait, did 2020 actually ever end…?), we moved in a bigger house than we had in Napa. I figured I could shoot at home, setup a mini studio in the Study and make it work for as long as I needed to, until I got steady work in our new hometown. I did a few shoots here and, well, it just didn’t work. I know what I need to be efficient and effective, and a dedicated studio is one of those things. The ability to leave gear setup all the time, storage for gear and props, separation of work life and home life - all of these things are crucial to my business’ success here. I have been in a studio since 2015 and it works for my business. Hopefully for the Oregon half of my business too!

I looked around town even before we moved here. I wanted to get a sense of lease rates, is everything NNN, what’s walkable, what’s in town, what’s outside of town, what can I afford, what can I do now vs. in 3 years from now. We’ll just say that it’s quite different than Napa commercial rentals. I have choices here. What a concept!

I settled on a suite in an incredible historic building called the Sparta Building. The suite is smaller than my last studio in the Tannery in Napa, but it will work for me for the time being. I’ll be more deliberate on my prop inventory and provide a more curated prop selection to clients. It’s got the hardwood floors and high ceilings I need. It’s move-in ready - which is crucial for me right now as our house isn’t, so all of my project energy goes there right now.

And everyone knows how much I love historic spaces
