Branding Session with Annie Jenkins

When I shoot people, they are usually a part of a lifestyle scene for a brand, most likely a wine brand. This shoot was very different: branding photography for Annie Jenkins. I met Annie while on a Downtown Medford Association committee. We connected, chatted a bit, and she asked if I would do her new photography. I was hesitant, vocally, and let her know that this is out of my wheelhouse but I would love to! We did some planning, I learned more about who she was as a person, what her goals were for the photographs both in placement and in the message they needed to convey, and where to shoot.

We decided to use my studio in the Sparta Building, setup as an “office” for her, so she could communicate how she works and her approach to business. We also needed to capture headshots, both more formal and the ones that resonate more with Annie as a person: more informal and engaging. We did some inside, some outside and over the two hours, her personality really shines through.

Branding sessions can be so awkward - I’ve never had one done for a reason! - but Annie was a natural. She knew what she wanted people to see and feel when they saw the images, what her digital presence and branding was all about, and we shot lots of images to fit anything she needed now and in the future. I loved doing this shoot and Annie has become a good friend - best of all worlds.
